St. Joseph Health System Chooses Concuity’s ClearContracts
Modeling Function Will Help Large Health System Negotiate Better Contracts With Payer Organizations
HAYWARD, Calif., April 1, 2003 - Concuity, a trusted provider of contract revenue cycle management solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced that St. Joseph Health System (SJHS) has signed an agreement to use Concuity’s ClearContracts? technology to help negotiate contracts with managed care organizations. Ten SJHS facilities throughout California will have access to an integrated database created by ClearContracts that allows them to study contractual data across the entire system, comparing expected performance levels and contract terms before actually signing any system-wide agreements. “We consider this agreement to be the start of a strategic partnership with St. Joseph Health System, which chose our solution after a protracted evaluation process. They realized that ClearContracts lines up perfectly with their revenue cycle challenges,” said Robert E. Watson, Concuity’s president and CEO. “By utilizing ClearContracts for contract modeling during the negotiation process, hospitals within the health system will have access to information not readily available to them before, and the benefits will show up as a significant positive impact on their bottom line.” ClearContracts’ modeling component allows health care providers to predict how each agreement will perform and hold up under a variety of financial and operational conditions. It enables hospital executives and contractors to insert financial terms and conditions, and create a variety of “what if” scenarios. ClearContracts quantifies how each contract will perform, facilitates benchmarking of data against performance results of other contracts within the system, and identifies revenue opportunities. “Contract modeling is of utmost importance to our organization. Since the size of our payer agreements is significant, and the revenue opportunity is huge, it is critical that they be negotiated properly,” said Darrin Montalvo, vice president of finance for SJHS. “We took our time in choosing the right technology partner to help us continue our on-going, system-wide initiative to gain control over our contract revenue cycle process. Concuity’s technology impressed us as mature and thorough. The technology, coupled with the extensive domain knowledge and real-world experience within the Concuity team and the flexible packaging and pricing of the ClearContracts solution led us to our final decision.”
